Building the path, one stone at a time

Next week, Christian, our friend Frank, neighbor Buford and one of our local contractors are doing some work at Idylwild. They will be installing a drainage pipe along the main road, building two parking pads, clearing the camping and fire pit areas and setting up picnic tables for October’s retreat.  They’ll be doing a LOT of work. And with the right tools, equipment, vision and attitude, they’ll get it done.

We all need that kind of support to realize our dreams! Taken altogether, anything that we envision can seem like an insurmountable task – changing careers, choosing a newer, truer path, moving to a new state or home, or developing a property into a homestead. I’ve written about how we’ve broken down our major projects over time, and this is another one of those projects. But this time, I wanted to home in on the support and tools to help us get that path built.

As you know, I didn’t exactly have holding a retreat in my plans – THIS YEAR. While we have a vision for developing a retreat and wellness center (in the very spot that will be cleared out next week), I didn’t imagine that could happen this year. This year is the year that I started holding circles and workshops close to home, and my focus has been developing and expanding these offerings. But with the support of others, Idylwild will host its first retreat next month. (There are still a few more spaces, if you are interested.)

Without the incredible ambition and hard work of Christian, Frank and Buford, things would look different. We still could have hiked, had a fire, camped and done our guided work, but it wouldn’t have been as impactful as it will be. There is something to be said, too, for being pushed gently along to work on projects that might not have been scheduled otherwise,

Then, there is having the right tools and equipment (and pre-planning to get things lined up) to make sure everything can be accomplished in the allotted time. A tractor, backhoe, stone, bush hog, chains, etc. are all needed to do this work. These tools exist and were made for these tasks.

Of course, you know that I am not just writing about the project that we have underway this month at Idylwild. I also am writing about that career change, that move to a new state or home, or anything on your newer, truer path. I know you can get these done with the right tools, vision and focus. Let me know how I can help.

xoxo,

Jaime
